Civic addressing is a province-wide standardized system of identifying and locating properties by establishing unique access points. Civic addresses are to be used in conjunction with your legal land description to provide an access point to your property. The system is used to assist emergency responders such as police, fire and paramedics to find homes and businesses quickly.

NOTE – your civic address IS NOT a mailing address. Your Canada Post mailing address will not change. Your civic address is meant to provide assistance for visitors and others to navigate to your property.

The RM of Blucher recognizes the importance of the civic addressing system and is working hard to implement and install civic addressing signs for you. Your civic address sign will be installed at the edge of your property. The sign will be reflective blue with white lettering, and double sided that faces both directions of traffic. Your civic address will be printed on your 2026 tax notice, even though the sign won’t be installed until later this year. We recommend that your civic address is in a visible area of your home in case of any emergency; also, add it to your phone.

The civic addressing information does not get uploaded to Google Maps or Apple Maps, but you may choose to share your address with Google’s database by pinning and sharing it yourself (the RM will not do this for you.)

Multiple residences / Shared access point – if your property has a secondary residence you will receive 2 addresses with unit letters to represent separate residences. Similarly, if your residence has a shared access point off a main road, you will have a unit letter added to your civic address.
